In The Arms Of The Angel

Good Day again, ( two days in a row)

I have a lot of photos that I want to share, that means more blogging.

While in San Diego my Dad and I happened across the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery,
it overlooks the Bay of San Diego, and it is a very beautiful spot.

The lawn was well maintained and in the background you
can see the ocean.

I do not know who this person is, but I sat for a while thinking about who was
and the life he had.

The gravestones go on forever it seemed.

These flowers we left by one of the gravesides, I love to
see that, it shows that the people before us have not been forgotten.

We only spent a little bit of time here but I felt a great spirit on these grounds. I sat on the grass and thought about all the lives that have been sacrificed for freedoms in the U.S.A. and in Canada. Now this is not a World War specific gravesite but the people buried there have served in some way to help me, for my future to keep me free to choose my religion, my occupation where I live and the friends I associate with. It was a very humbling place to visit I am very grateful for all the people who have worked so hard and even given their lives to the betterment of our two countries and the world.

Take Another Ride On The Sunshine HIghway...

I love the cold and the snow and most all things related to winter and it snowed in Edmonton sunday night and monday morning. I was going to go out and make some pictures of the beautiful snow but then I decided to show some warm pictures from my trip to California from this summer. I figured that most people are not as weird as I am and you guys might be missing the warm weather, sunshine and shorts.

Nothing says warm like a sunny beach( Ocean Beach ) and the warm sun.

Watching these guys Parachute surf was really cool, they would ride the waves and do cool jumps and flips.

You Are My Sunshine..

Good day eh!

It has been a little while since I have blogged, I am sorry to my fans for this, today I will showcase some of the fun work I have been able to make this fall.
I have a friend Darrien who planted a whole whack of sunflower seeds this past spring and her yard blossomed with them, it was a sight to see, it reminded me of the movie Jumanji when the house gets overtaken by the jungle. It was not so drastic but some of the plants grew about 15 feet tall, she has a green thumb for sure.

I was even able to catch a bee on the flower.

I love seeing the sun cut through leaves.

Bee again, ( I know it's not actually a bee, but close enough)

More sun cutting through and bursting out.

It was a really fun time being in this yard and see how awesome sunflowers can be, they are so pretty.

Take me out to the ball game

Good day eh.

So on Wednesday night I was invited to go to the baseball game for the Edmonton Capitals.

I am not that big a fan of baseball, but any sport live i fell is great, baseball can be very slow though...

So I went, brought my camera along, since it's basically an extension of my body, and i had a really good time. There was ten of us in the group as seen in this fun photo.

Then I made some pictures of the players at bat, we were up in the stands a bit, but I still feel I made a few good pictures. I really enjoy sports photography, it can be very challenging to capture those precise moments as they happen you really have to know that they are going to happen before they actually do,

like in these two shots the ball has just been hit and blurred a bit because the ball is moving very fast.

So as well as making pictures of the players I also made some pictures David Drohan and Randi Taylor.

So n these two pictures you can see how I have dropped the aperture to 1.8 and 1.6 blurring everything except the subject. The one subject being David, not knowing he was being photographed, and the other the blanket with a blurred Randi and even more blurred background. I love playing around with the F-stop it can totally change a photograph.

Moving pictures

Good day eh,
So I was referred to a very helpful website to assist me in presenting my photography with slideshows, and I love the work I can do there, so this is my first ever slideshow.
I really hope you enjoy all of it's majesty.

So there are photos from Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Crescent city, the red wood forests and Crater lake.

(A continuation of my trip)


Our next stop was San Diego, CA but on the way there we drove through Riverside, CA I took a picture of the city limits sign for my sister Kristi who has a missionary there.

I really enjoyed San Diego it is a very pretty city, and they have an awesome zoo, we spent an entire day at the zoo, seeing all sorts of animals. It was a very full day with lots of walking and wandering.

So we decided to go elsewhere to eat lunch since the zoo food is usually more expensive.
My Dad and I had a restaurant that we had been wanting to go to ever since watching an episode of Diners Drive-ins and Dives ( on the food network with Guy Fieri). The restaurant is called Hodad's now this is one of the best burgers i have ever had just loaded with everything, best of all lots and lots of bacon!! So my Dad took a picture of me trying to take my first bite, it was very awesome!
After our awesome meal, we went back to the zoo to work off the food we had just eaten.

So that was day one in San Diego
pretty fun so far eh?

Back to school... to show my dad that i'm not a fool...

On march 25th 2010 my Dad and I signed up for Skip's Summer School. We have both decided to start our own individual photography businesses, so when we saw this post we decided it was something that we needed to go to ( my mom also pushed very much for us to go, realizing the potential it had).
This "summer School" was 16 of the worlds best photographers sharing their secrets of success, from marketing your business to how to be true to yourself as a photographer.
The classes were held at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas.
What a great time it was, to be able to sit in the same room as Scott Bourne, Dane Sanders, Yervant, Joe Buissink and Jasmine Star to name a few, I went into this ready to enjoy a good time and maybe learn some new techniques and see some great work, I came out with my head ready to explode from all the greatness i was able to take in. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
yes it was that awesome!!!!!!

So this whole Blogging business is very new to me, and so far I am really enjoying it. I was a little scared at first getting started, but being able to write my thoughts and experiences down for all the interwebs to see, its very cool. I even have a follower already .. ( my sister..)
